Reflecting on the London Global Convention 2024: A Celebration of Connection and Insight

The London Global Convention 2024 on Corporate Governance & Sustainability was an extraordinary gathering of thought leaders, industry pioneers, and policymakers from around the globe. For us, it was more than just a conference—it was an opportunity to connect with incredible people and be inspired by their journeys and insights.

Among the many standout keynote presentations at the event, Risto Siilasmaa, Former Chairman and CEO of Nokia, delivered an especially compelling talk. He shared how Nokia tackled the challenges of reshaping its business amidst industry upheaval, candidly reflecting on missteps and the strategies that revitalised one of Finland’s most iconic brands. Risto spoke about the “toxicity of success,” urging leaders to continually question their strategies and avoid relying on outdated practices. “Never use old practices for new solutions,” he advised, emphasising the need for adaptability and innovation. He also stressed the importance of realism and open communication, sharing his perspective: “Bad news is good news, good news is no news, and no news is bad news.” This, he explained, highlights how honest dialogue and confronting challenges head-on are essential for growth and resilience.
